When trying to change another person, we are attempting to manipulate and mold another person to fit our needs, it’s self-serving. Although the change your wanting to make in another person is possibly good for them, it may not be something they are intrinsically motivated in. They may not want to do what you are asking them to naturally.

At the beginning of the dating process, it is important to get clarity on what you actually want from another person. Mistakes are made when there is ambiguity and can impact your ability to feel safe or lead to pain and confusion when silent expectations are unmet. 

Drama in relationship by definition refers to an emotional state where one or both people in a relationship create an uncomfortable feeling through manipulation and/or control. Drama isn’t about sincere emotion, it’s a mask, a façade that covers the underlying emotion of fear, insecurity, and low self-worth. Drama is a game we play to cause reactions out of others with a hidden attention to obtain attention to hopefully remind us that we matter. If we can cause a reaction out of someone than we have to matter right?
